Outlining Asia’s ITS Requirements and Deployment Strategies

Dear Colleague

Rising impetus for enhancing road safety and escalating socio-environmental and economic implications of traffic congestions worldwide are proving to be the key rationale for investments in intelligent transportation systems.

A decaying transportation infrastructure, increasing number of accidents owing to the growing population in the region has made Asia the geographic breadwinner in ITS manufacturing and deployment. Japan, South Korea and Singapore have set the pace and forged ahead with ITS deployments. It is the time for the developing countries such as China, Malaysia, India, Philippines and the rest to catch up and make their transport systems smart.

Asia presents a completely different set of challenges to cope with when compared to the rest of the world. Hence, it is highly imperative to tune the solutions in traffic management available to suit the local market. And that is exactly why benchmarking the current transport systems on a regional scale with your peers in Asia is highly beneficial. Engaging in regional discussions to uncover strategies to increase the awareness among various stakeholders and getting the solution providers to discuss the specific answers to Asia's transport management questions is something that the governments are looking forward to.

With all this in mind, join me at the inaugural Intelligent Transport Asia 2011, a conference that brings together the decision makers of the Asian Governments, the technology providers and the researchers involved to shape the future of Asia’s intelligent transportation systems.

Kind Regards
